Organisation: European Space Agency (ESA) Location: Ideas can be submitted from anywhere in the world via ideas.esa.int. To implement a funded idea yourself, you or your affiliated entity must be eligible to do business with ESA under its procurement regulations, which in practice means being based in an ESA member state (the Netherlands qualifies). Award: Varies by route and campaign. Successful ideas are supported through PhD or postdoctoral research co-funded by ESA and universities, early technology development activities, or system studies. The catch for funding: to implement a funded idea yourself, you must be eligible to do business with ESA under Article 18 of its procurement regulations, which in practice means affiliation with an entity in an ESA member state. WHAT FUNDING LOOKS LIKE: successful ideas are typically supported as co-funded PhD or postdoctoral research (ESA plus a university), early technology development activities, or system studies; amounts vary by route and campaign.
